Clustering of genomes on the basis of gene order by using adjacency matrices
This project is aimed at devising and implementing an alternative methodology to cluster genomes on the basis of gene order
by using adjacency matrices. The methodology was initially designed for circular (mitochondrial) genomes, but it can be easily
extended to linear genomes with multiple chromosomes. Implementation of the methodology is being carried out in collaboration
with Marc Brooks, an intern recently graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Applied Mathematics.
The methodology is being implemented
as a web server and a standalone program called FIGG. Both resources will be publicly availble soon.
